Ethiopian Landscape Restoration Platform (ELaRP)

A non profit platform established by 16 public Ethiopian universities in collaboration with Alliance Bioversity International and International Centre for Tropical Agriculture with the objectives of sharing experiences in landscape restoration, developing/standardizing landscape restoration approaches, improving the quality of landscape restoration research, generating evidence on landscape restoration research, supporting the national landscape restoration initiatives and managing knowledge in landscape restoration in Ethiopia.

ELaRP was established in 2023 with a mission to address Ethiopia’s pressing environmental challenges through collaborative action. As a unified platform, ELaRP connects diverse landscape stakeholders across the nation, including public universities, research institutions, government agencies, NGOs, private sector partners, and local communities. Our goal is to drive joint efforts that generate research-backed evidence, build capacity, and provide policy recommendations for effective landscape restoration.

By embracing an integrated landscape approach, we aim to tackle interconnected issues such as food insecurity, climate change, and environmental degradation. Looking ahead, our vision is to position ELaRP as a leading platform for landscape restoration in East Africa by 2035, setting an example of impactful, cross-sector collaboration in sustainable environmental management.
